MIS Deployment Instrument
Stryker Spine requested an instrument based on a pioneering spinal procedure for inserting an innovative, minimally invasive implant. A range of ergonomic surgical positions were systematically explored to ensure comfort and accuracy over the duration of an exacting surgical procedure. Tricky component attachments had to be simplified for ease of use with slippery gloved hands. Precise .020" positional increments were translated through a full-handled trigger, with an advanced, built-in reset for multiple adjustments. Surgical observation and extensive prototype testing during cadaver labs enabled HFDW to iteratively refine the device. Sterility, internal component weight, and line of sight were optimized to give the surgeon confidence during a procedure where control and accuracy are imperative.
