Take the fear, discomfort, and stigma out of your daily injection.

Needleless Injection
Fearless Medication. Humanfactors understands the fear and discomfort associated with conventional needle injections, so we used an innovative medicament stream measuring a third the diameter of the smallest available insulin syringe needle in designing this series of injector pens. While most injector pens try to disguise themselves as actual writing instruments, we applied subtle form, translucent housings, and comfortable textures to create a medical device that need not be ashamed of its purpose. Intensive user studies, in concert with a broad scope of form exploration, created a lifestyle product that eliminates the need for sharps disposal.
Industrial Design
Whether pulling the injector from a backpack or a briefcase, many people wish to keep their medications private so as not to attract undue attention. Self medication should never be cause for shame but, for children especially, medical conditions can be a source of feeling self conscious. As such, ideation explored design language that downplayed the medical nature of this very medical device, essentially trying to disguise it.
Engineering
One of the drawbacks typical of these injector pens is the noise made when the user actuates the injection: bang! Such an abrupt, noisy boom means all eyes turn to the user, which is exactly what this project was trying to avoid. Engineering was able to minimize this noise by employing a clever series of specially designed sprung components, greatly reducing the sound coming from the injector.
